• High prices, Poor Service

  I have had three experiences of Electro Music of Doncaster, none of them especially pleasent. My first was when I wished to purchase a pair of replacement stylus for my turntables. I telephoned to check availability of the items before I made the journey through to collect them, but it wasn't until I got there that I was told that the official Stanton styli I required were discontinued (I was given the impression that this was what I would be buying), and that the options I had were to either replace the entire cartridges or take an 'alternative' compatible styli. At £10 each i thought they must be ok. It wasn't until after I had got them home that I realised the exact same products were available in their hundreds on ebay for under £10 PER PAIR! On top of that, they were WORSE that the 'worn out' needles I was replacing! My second experience of Electro's 'Customer Service' was when I phoned to enquire about their stock of midi/USB cables. Despite explaining that i wanted to know if and what they stocked as I would be making a special journey on my way home to buy one, I was asked to phone back later as they were 'too busy'. Well evidently they were too busy, as when I called back later and got the information I required, I was told their midi/USB cables STARTED at £30! So bear in mind when you shop here, this company can afford to through away £30 sales, as they are too busy! My third (and definitely FINAL) experience of Electro was today when I telephoned, as advised by their website, to check availability of a certain item. The chap who answered the phone seemed to do so begrudgingly, informed me that they did not have any in stock, and said goodbye. That was it. No 'but we will have it in on....', or 'I can order it for you', or even a 'but I can recommend a great alternative'. Luckily, I found the item I wanted in stock at a number of online retailers, all of them at least 25% CHEAPER than Electro. From what I can gather, Electro Music's ideal customer base is one who has plenty of cash and doesn't ask questions. If you don't fall into this catergory, a quick shop around on the internet will find you what you want at a cheaper price and without the hassle of having to deal with the rudeness and arrogance of their staff.

• The riffage

  I have been a customer at electro music for a few years and it is definitately the best music shop I have ever been to. The hospitality of the staff is incredible and they do know what they're talking about. I find great service everytime I go and a mutual understanding of how the staff feel towards where they work, expressing their views to me as I would never have expected to hear as they all overflow with knowledge and understanding. This shop is a great place for anyone to look around whether they are looking for their first guitar or say a vintage multi-FX pedal, Electro Music has it all, and when I come to do work experience, I hope I can do it there.

• The best.

  My daughter wanted a used electric guitar and went to electro music,the staff could not have been more helpful,they were fantastic,they showed her some guitars and played them for her,also letting her have a go herself,they gave big discounts on the guitar,amp,and gave her a strap and stand,and 3 mth guarantee,my daughter is only 10,and the guitar £60 but they were brilliant.I won't shop anywhere else in future.
